Your appointment

Before requesting an appointment with one of our clinicians, it may be worth looking at our self-referrals page to check if a surgery appointment is needed for the service you require.

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • By telephone
  • Face to Face at the surgery
  • With a GP or Nurse through the Out of Hours service. Telephone and Face to Face appointments are available to pre-book on weekends and of an evening. Please note these appointments are run by the Brighton and Hove Federation

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you are unable to attend your appointment it is your responsibility to let us know as soon as possible so we may offer the appointment to another patient. You are at risk of being removed from the practice list if you continually miss appointments.

To cancel your appointment:

Appointment slot times and patient’s use of them

As you will no doubt be aware, the NHS and general practice are under a great deal of strain. At the Seven Dials Medical Centre we strive to ensure this does not impact on our patients and we try to ensure we allow everyone sufficient time to address their problems within reason.

Appointment slots are set to 10 minutes in order to accommodate as many patients as possible.

With respect we would like to request that patients bring a single problem to discuss per consultation or be mindful that we may not address everything that day.

Double appointments are available on request if multiple issues need discussion.

Storing up problems might feel like a helpful approach but this leads to others waiting longer for their appointments.

Phone advice

There are times when you may wish to speak to the doctor or nurse about medical problems or for advice. If you wish to speak to the doctor or nurse, advise reception of your needs. Phone consultations are now available, please advise reception that this is what you require.

Out of Hours Service

We can now offer our patients some evening and weekend appointments, you would be seen in a nearby hub that hosts this service but we would give you full details when you book, there are GPs, ANPs, nurses and HCAs available which should meet all our patient needs.

The weekend appointment slots are usually between 8am to 2pm, Saturday and Sunday, the evening slots are normally between 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

This is our new phone automated system which enables you to action appointment booking, appointment cancelling and ordering your repeat prescription 24 hours a day.

By calling the surgery on 01273 773 089 and selecting option 1 you will be asked to follow the prompts. You can use this service to pre-book both telephone and face to face appointments with a clinician up to 2 weeks in advance.

Phlebotomy service

Please ask at reception for an appointment if you have been requested by the doctor to have one.

Alternatively, you can call the Hove Polyclinic on 01273 265 588 between 8:30am to 12:50pm, Monday to Friday and 1:30pm to 3:30pm on Wednesday to make an appointment or call BGH on 01273 265 588 between 1:30pm to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
